The inestimable, irreproachable, Baron Karl Friedrich Hieronymus von Münchhausen! The man, the myth, the movie - here in his appearance from the eponymous movie by Terry Gilliam. (If you don't know it or haven't seen it, go look it up!) As a true historical and literary figure, the Baron was infamous for stretching the truth and the fantastically embellished accounts of his adventures, which he nonetheless firmly believed and proclaimed to be absolutely true. In Gilliams film, you get to see all of the Baron's fantasy brought to life. If you can get past the early-80's vibe, the movie is a visual feast, equal parts comedy, commentary, and adventure, tinged with just a hint of disturbing nightmare (the appearance of the grim reaper coming at the Baron will creep you out for days).
