I stood at the gate of the castle,waiting for someone to take my place.I'd been standing for hours, but I suppose that's the price I pay for knighthood.I began to question my decisions,but my thoughts were interrupted by the snapping of twigs.I could have sworn that I saw small blue flames for a split second, but then again, I've been awake all night.

I looked over at the other guard.I was shocked to find that he was gone.The Guild was going to hear about this, leaving during his shift.This was unacceptable.But, givin the chance, I would do the same...I heard more noises.It was probably just the other person on duty.

I cleared my head again and turned my attention to the area in front of me.I saw something again.I swear I saw a man spattered with a red substance that reminded me of blood.I don't know what it was exactly, but something in the back of my head told me I didn't want to know.A horrible thought surfaced, what if the other guard was killed by that man? It would explain why he wasn't back yet...I wrapped my right hand around the hilt of my sword.If that thing wasn't just a hallucination, I'd be ready for it.

Before I could act, I quickly found myself on my back.The thing I remebered as the "halucination" was hovering above.It kneeled down next to me and unsheathed a bright cyan blade.The last thing I saw was blood.

So, as I lay here in this hollowed, wooden box, I question my decisions as I did when I was alive, and try to block the memories of the person I used to be.
