For this description, instead of trying to give you the blow-by-blow plot of the movie, I'll just loosely describe the monster, its origins, and how the fight went down.
For millennia, it had conquered every planet it had come across. Crushed them, squealing, under the heel of its incredible power. Mars, Venus, Mercury, all had fallen to Ghidorah, destroyer of worlds and killer of the living. However, when it surveyed its handiwork, it was angered. One planet had, so far, eluded it. A small, blue planet. It moved to rectify this right away. However, when it emerged from its inter-galaxy vessel, it was met with the strangest sensation. It felt... challenged, as if something on this puny planet could possibly match its incredible capacity for destruction. It dismissed this as impossible. However, little did Ghidorah know, there was indeed a creature, three creatures, in fact, that could hope to resist the beast.
Their names: Mothra, Rodan, and the mightiest of all, Godzilla, king of the monsters. Rodan had been mysteriously resurrected by volcano gases in its rocky tomb, Godzilla, sensing something was wrong, had attacked the Japanese coast, and Mothra, summoned by the Shobijin, who knew of the space monster's incursion, was attempting to rally the other two monsters into a fighting force. The other kaiju, however, wanted none of it. They were more content with trying to destroy each other. None of Mothra's pleading could change their minds. Thus Mothra left, alone, to save the Earth.
What was this!? The space conqueror had barely begun its campaign of devastation when this strange grub creature had interrupted the lovely destruction. He had removed the incursion immediately, expecting no further annoyances. However, he had not expected the involvement of two other beasts, a grey reptile, and a red flying thing. He removed them as well.
Godzilla had never encountered a foe so powerful. The thing had sent all of them flying at first attack. But if Mothra told the truth, this thing aimed to destroy the Earth, his home. This he could not allow.
