This could really be any high-status figure in the middle-east, but it's modeled after a portrait of a Mamluk Bey. Mamluks were slave soldiers recruited and risen to prominence during the crusades. Ultimately their leaders became generals and then kings, and started the Mamluk Sultanate in Egypt. Turkish culture had long influenced the middle-east, and the figure was described as a Mamluk "Bey", Turkish for "prince", despite not being Turkish.
