Continued from last installment...
Sakai, Junko, and Miura travel to Infant Island to recruit the Shobijin, however, they fear that the twin priestesses might not choose to help them, since humans destroyed their once-verdant home with atomic testing. As soon as the three set foot on the shore, they are forcibly taken by Infant Island natives, and brought to their chief. They plead their case before the islanders, but are, as expected, denied. The chief says that due to both the atomic testing that destroyed Infant Island and the mainlander's refusal to return the egg, outsiders are forbidden on the island. They are about to be forcefully ejected when the soft singing of the Shobijin stops everything cold. The three rush to the Shobijin, hoping that they will be more understanding than their people towards Japan's plight. Unfortunately, the Shobijin also refuse. Mothra is old, they inform the outsiders, she is in the final throes of her life. Even if she defeats Godzilla, she will die. The three friends begin to walk away, but Junko suddenly turns around. She tells the Shobijin that everyone from Japan is not to blame. She says that along with the few who deserve it, thousands of uninvolved, innocent people are being slaughtered by Godzilla's attack. Sakai adds that "We're all human," and just because the Islanders find the Japanese to be different, does not mean their lives are worthless. The Shobijin, to everyone's surprise, agree, and begin to implore Mothra to help Japan, despite her age.
Meanwhile, Godzilla is approaching the hotel Torahata is staying in. Kumayama bursts in on Torahata in his hotel room, and demands that the industrialist give him the money Kumayama is owed. Torahata refuses, saying that Kumayama willingly gave his money to him. Kumayama, furious, launches himself at Torahata, and the two slimy businessmen get into a brutal brawl, which ends when Kumayama repeatedly punches Toratata in the mouth, drawing large amounts of blood. Kumayama then crawls over to Torahata's money cabinet, and begins stuffing wads of cash into his overcoat. Torahata wakes up, and pulls out a revolver., shooting Kumayama in the head. He then stumbles over to the cabinet, takes the money, and tries to escape before Godzilla destroys the hotel. But, because of the time he spent gathering the money, it's too late, and he is crushed by debris when Godzilla reaches the building. Godzilla sees the egg, and makes a beeline towards it, with the intent of destruction. However, Mothra and the trio of friends arrive just in time. Utilizing her furious speed and her powerful weapons such as her poisonous wing powder and antennae beams, Mothra quickly gains the upper hand. She drags the Monster King along the ground and beats him savagely with her legs. However, Godzilla scores a direct hit on Mothra's head with his atomic ray, mortally wounding her. Mothra limply glides over to the egg, and dies trying to protect it. Godzilla, seeing that he now has no opposition returns to his path of destruction, assaulting the military. However, the Shobijin don't accept this, and begin singing to the egg. The egg suddenly hatches into not one, but two Mothra larva, which trail Godzilla to Iwa Island. They assault the King of the Monsters, and while initially outmatched, liberal use of their silk shooting traps Godzilla in a massive web, which they push into the ocean. Victorious, the Mothra larva and the SHobijin depart, having made the world once again safe from Godzilla.
For a while, anyway.
Mothra is considered to be the "Guardian of the Earth," and has assisted humanity many times. She has also had a successful solo career, with 4 or 5 successful non-Godzilla films to her credit.

Phew! Glad that's over. Mothra is just a royal pain to make in skin form, I must have gone through at least three separate ideas before this one surfaced, and I still don't like it. I may revisit this later.
Up next- Rodan!
