The Fisherman in Ocarina of Time owns a Fishing Pond in Lake Hylia. He is infamous for having a never-ending itch in his armpit; as such, he can always be seen scratching whether Link is a child or an adult. The Fisherman allows anyone to lure fish for an unlimited time at a cost of 20 Rupees. He considers himself an expert at catching fish, going as far as referring to himself as an "old pro", but he refuses to reveal any fishing secrets to Link since he considers them to be "company secrets." He also has a tendency to continuously end his sentences with "I'm serious!"
When Link goes back to the fishing pond as an adult, the fisherman will now be wearing a hat to try and cover his bald spot. Moreover, he mentions that he is almost out of business since Link, his only customer, was gone for seven years. If Link breaks the rules and casts his fishing rod at the fisherman, he can grab his hat to confirm the fact that he has started to go bald. Also, it is revealed by casting the rod at his desk at a certain angle, that the fisherman was never programmed with legs.
His parallel character in Majora's Mask is the owner of the Trading Post (young form), and the Man from Curiosity Shop (older form).
The fisherman makes a small cameo in Hena's fishing hole in Twilight Princess. There is a picture of him holding a Hylian Loach. Hena also believes to be his descendant, sharing both his passion for fishing and his awkward itch.
