Shrike, last of the Lazarus Brigade.
Once a man, he died and was resurrected as one of the most feared things in the world: A Stalker.
Despite stalkers being removed of emotion, so as to make them better weapons, he still feels them. This has plagued him since the end of the sixty-minuet-war. He longed for companionship and found a kindred spirit in a small, scarred child, named Hester Shaw.

This is shrike from the book 'Mortal Engines'. The book is one of the best I have ever read.
