WOOHOO! 75th place!!!
This is my submission for the Under The Sea contest! He holds an array of scales all around his body. On the back are his spines/fins/whatever. On the side of his head he has the typical (or what my friend calls 'em"Dragon Wings". (Essentially the small fins you see on a lot of dragon's heads. Technically, he isn't supposed to have arms or legs (being a serpent), so the pixels were mad to blend throughout.

He was once a captain. He once had a wife and children. He was once respected by all. But now, fate has left him to be nothing more than an outcast, a lowlife, and to be treated as nothing more than a creature. But it was not his doing. It was the pride of a king which put him in this place, and it was his own humility that tore him apart. Many years ago he was known as Damian. He is now referred to only as The Arcane Serpent.
And so the story begins... of the long, long lost Captain Damian.
His wife and three kids never stopped stopped visiting the bay when they last saw him. Damian doesn't stop believing, that they're still out there, waiting for him to return. But he doesn't know if they are even still alive.
Ever since that damned witch has poisoned my one and only best friend, the King Charles with her Insanity Potion, he has banished me to the sea, made me an outcast, took away my only Arabian war ship that i had cherished all my life. To this day, I still hear my little boy's voice say: 'Daddy, I don't want you to go! You have to stay! Daddy, Daddy, What did I do? Did I do something to make you mad and leave us? Daddy, I love you! Please don't go, daddy." And I have never seen a tear flow down my wife's cheek that rapidly. I used to be respected by many, Merchants, Kings, Sailors, even Thieves. But now... now... I'm nothing but a Slimy Old Sea Snake. That damned witch had poisoned my best of friends, and she turned me into a MONSTER! Once in a few years, I return to the old bay... and still find... the little heart my youngest child Claudia had scratched on the board, a bent nail on the logs nailed down by my oldest son Frederick, and... my dear, young boy Peter had tied his favorite toy boat, on the bay moat. And it still floats there, reminding of what I have had in my life, and looking at it, I hold on to my ring... White gold with Ruby stone, made for me and my wife Mary, by King Charles. To this day, I still Ponder why and how did I deserve this... WHY!?
There's no reason... The damned witch just wanted to bring people eternal sadness.
I started to Practice Arcane Magic, just to make my family and friends shapes, from blue flame, and that's how I remember...
That's how I remember myself, my family and my dear friend...
