The Crying Statue

In Ancient Greece, a scholar created a beautiful statue and all who saw it were amazed at its beauty. The scholar was praised greatly for his work, and grew arrogant, claiming that his statue was more beautiful than the Gods. But this angered the ancient Gods, who took a terrible revenge. They disfigured the statue so that all would turn away in disgust and awoke an anger inside of it. The next when people came to see the statue, they found it so horribly disfigured that they could not bear to look at it. The scholar was nowhere to be found, but a friend found a small scrap of his clothing grasped firmly in the statue's hand. No one knows what happened to the statue, but some say it still roams around, carrying out the vengance of the Gods upon man.
