The Fawn of the Forest

In a forgotten corner of an abandoned attic of a village house sat a gigantic chest. It towered over Steve, and he thought that it must be at least twice his size. "I could easily hide in such a chest," he thought. The sound of hissing outside the wooden door drove him to immediate action. Stepping inside, Steve found that it did not contain merely helmets and suits of armor; rather, as he dug deeper and deeper, he found himself surrounded by trees. Soon, snow crunched under his feet, and he stepped out into a flurry of pixelated flakes, armor and helmets clattering out after him. He took a moment to observe his surroundings: He seemed to be in a clearing, great tall evergreens towering over him. In the middle of a clearing was a simple redstone lantern-post, powered by invisible means. "What other surprises does this chest have in store for me?" He wondered. "What wonderful things will I find to mine? What adventures lie ahead? Surely I cannot have escaped danger so easily-" and as if to answer his question, a figure rushed into view. Steve let out a shout at the sight of hairy goat-legs, and at the large, inhuman ears of the creature before him. The goat-man himself let out a shout, seeming just as surprised at Steve's presence, and dropped an almost-full inventory of pickaxes, ores, and cooked fish. This was the Fawn of the Forest, warrior, miner, and caretaker of the woods which Steve had so carelessly stumbled upon.
