Kratos was the youngest commander of the army of Sparta. Conquest after conquest,
he succeeded to the command of an army of a thousand men. In one of his last battles,
he fights the barbarians of the East, but unfortunately the strength and discipline of the Spartans
do not come to end the cruelty and the power of the barbarians.
While his soldiers are dying one after the one, Kratos will be finish by the barbarian warlord,
when he implores the god of war Ares asking him to save him and make him win the battle
in exchange for his soul . The god then answers the call with the intention to making Kratos
in ruthless warrior, then a single gesture the god decimates all the barbarians of the battlefield
before attaching the Blades of Chaos on his arms, which burn horribly.
After receiving the blessing of god, Ares ordered Kratos to destroy, him and his Spartan army,
a village built in honor of Athena. He went to the village and kill all the villagers.
The oracle moves toward Kratos by telling him that what he found in the temple is dangerous,
but despite these warnings, he enters the temple and kill everyone present.
He realizes after the fact that in his fury, his wife and daughter Calliope died with his own hands.
This crime was orchestrated by Ares himself, that Kratos has no attachments
and becomes the greatest of all warriors. Leaving the temple of the oracle gives him
a spell which glue the ashes of his family on his skin for the world to know the crimes he committed.
He then leaves the exclusive service of Ares to provide strength to the other gods of Olympus,
in exchange for forgiveness for his actions..
