Once again, across the span of the universe there are many, many Fantasy games/stories/movies (etc), and in just about every single one, there's a mage. Hence the coming of magicians.

The mage, a class reknowned for their supernatural skill, can be found in their tower, cooking up potions and developing spells and charms. Many prefer not to engage in combat and prefer to use protective wards whereas others use offensive tactics and blowing opponents to bits. A true mage's virtues are knowledge

and/or wit.
