One fateful night in Gotham City, young, eight-year old Bruce Wayne was walking with his parents in an alleyway when he got mugged by a man with a pistol.
Bruce's father, Thomas, tried to calm the criminal down, but as time went by, the man lost his patience and aimed for Bruce and his mother. Thomas, following his instinct, grabbed the mugger's gunning arm and began to attack him. As Bruce was running with his mother, he saw his father get shot in the chest, stopping him dead cold on his feet. His mother ran back to grab him, but the mugger was able to shoot her before she was able to escape with her son.
As the mugger ran away, getting what he wanted, young Bruce fell to his knees, grieving for his parents' attempt to save his life, dying in the process. Ever since, Bruce swore to seek vengeance on criminals alike by training himself to become the perfect human taking the persona of fear itself.
