Beorn was a shape-shifter who lived in right outside mirkwood. Despite the fact that he could turn into a bear, he was vegetarian that loved honey.
This is based on how he is going to appear on the big screen, and do not ask me how I know that due the fact that they haven't revealed a picture of him yet.
