Backstory:
Damien was a quiet boy, working on the same land as his ancestors had for generations. Life was hard, but that was how things were. Then the Crusades came, taxes were raised so that soldiers could fight in the Holy War. Damien's family could no longer sustain themselves, so he turned to thievery in order to feed himself and his family.
Years passed and the Crusade ended. However, they could not go back to their old, peaceful ways, their lord was so in debt after the war that he raised taxes again, now needing to support not only his own family but his neighbours as well, he and a group of followers raided the barracks of the local militia, which proved to be the straw that broke the camel's back, he was identified, and later outlawed along with his band (of merry men?) in 1101. They now are cursed to wander the forests of England for their lives
