For centuries, their civilisation blossomed on their homeworld of Entavia. That was before the Drought. Most of the water disappeared to this semi-aquatic alien race, leaving them helpless and weak. Not only that, these aliens fed on cleatures that were basically made out of water, and those were even less resistant than the fragile hunters.
Luckily their race had already gotten a good foundation in space travel, so despite their strict law on staying on their planet in fear of bringing back diseases, brave smugglers made it possible to travel to safer worlds like Axia and Loakroth.
Their technology soon spread across the rest of the galaxy, due to them usually having to pay in technology in order to live somewhere. Other places they were hunted down and protected by their smugglers, but that's a story to tell later.
