Unwillingly, Nevroticus was cursed by the gods into becoming what he is now. After being cursed, he avenged himself by cursing what the gods loved the most- the humans. What he did was to make them mortal, forcing them to look like the dark side of himself as the time passed, which made them different from the gods.
