At a young age Kyle Rayner, his Maura Rayner, and his father Aaron Rayner, were constantly on the run. Aaron joined the military to hide himself leaving Kyle and Maura to take care of themselves.Flash (Heh get it? Flash) forward 20 or so years, Kyle is living in Los Angeles and is an amazing graphic artist but he is struggling economically.One night Kyle was standing outside a night club getting some fresh air when Ganthetappears, Ganthet gives the power ring to Kyle because, Hal Jordan (the first Green Lantern) has gone insane with the destruction of Coast City. Ganthet put a power ring into Kyle's hand and said "you will have to do" before disappearing. Kyle Rayner took up the mantle of Green Lantern.
