Description from original post (created 2013-06-29 18:33):
Ozymandus is a god I created for the god and goddesses contest, also first skin I've done in a long time.
Basically, this god is a sort of nature god. It's job is to return the world to its natural state. It manifests as the natural forces that destroy and decay manmade structures. Rust, earthquakes, wind erosion, all its doing in an attempt to wipe the slate and remake the land. These forces change the landscape as well, so Ozymandus is also a force of change. It has no gender, and when represented takes the form of a worn statue covered in moss with bright glowing eyes.
My original inspiration for this skin comes from the game Shadow of the Colossus, where you fight 16 colossi that are a mix of animal and mineral. If you come back to where you fight them after they have been defeated you can see them already mixing back into the landscape, starting to look more like mountains. The art style is rather unique and partially inspired the design, and the idea of the stone colossi returning to where they came gave me an idea for the actual nature of Ozymandus. The name comes from the poem Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelley, husband of Mary Shelley the author of Frankenstein. The poem describes a ruined statue with the description, "My name is Ozymandias, king of kings: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!" written on the pedestal.
If you liked it or have suggestions, or just have something to say, feel free to leave a comment.
