Despite his name, Parmenides Berangere is a peasant, yet he has a very interesting backstory:

When he was young, Parmenides Berangere's mother, Fouqueret Berangere sadly died of bubonic plague. His father, Alatheus Berangere was very rich, but he was suffering from a terrible money crisis and he had to start working again. Parmenides was sadly abandoned in the depths of London because Alatheus couldn't feed them both. Parmenides walked for miles and miles and was employed by a farmer, who treated him like a son. The farmer told him tales of how his son sometimes chased bulls until he died too of bubonic plague.
Since then, Parmenides has been working at the farm. When he was only 8, he had his eye pulled out by a man with a pitchfork and was robbed. His eye has been infected since.
