Once upon a time, in a little village long ago, there lived a poor, kind young man. Now, this kind young man had a family. And he wished nothing more to keep them well fed. On the eve of one, cold bitter Christmas, the kind man decided to get something nice that his entire family could use. He went to a little toy shop, and wandered around. There were large, expensive toys. He went to the back of the store. In a small wooden box, he pulled out a small wooden nutcracker, with rabbit fur for its hair and beard. He asked the shop owner how much it was, and lucky for him it was in his very small price range, due to the inconsistency it had- Buck teeth, which made it very hard for it to break nuts. He brought it home, confident it would make his family happy. The next morning, on the day of Christmas, his family loved the gift, even though they all wanted something for their own. Unknown to the father, the Nutcracker was magical, and was activated by Christmas magic. It was alive, and entertained the family, bringing the true meaning of Christmas to them all.
