Kartoffel was never much of a noteworthy... god. He was more of a deity, never as significant as the greater, more magnificent beings, but still of the same calibre & potential. But of course, what did he do, or not do?
Kartoffel was born of Tera & Avian, the Gods of Earth and Sky respectively. He had many older sister and brother gods, but most of his siblings grew to many greater things.
By the time Kartoffel had come to master his control and ability of the the elements, much of creation had been completed. All the gods had taken their place for their respective creation, so what Kartoffel ever be a god of?
Ridiculed, isolated & abandoned for his lack of contribution, Kartoffel fell into a state of godly derpression.
Returning to his mother, Tera, Kartoffel consulted her for a purpose to his existence. Using her worldly wisdom, Tera resolved to send Kartoffel to his brother Erde, god of the fields.
Erde willingly guided Kartoffel in his quest for purpose, teaching his younger brother a great many things. And after what seemed to be a century of tutelage, Kartoffel found purpose.
Kartoffel fabricated a potato, and so he became the God of Potato (and all else related; such as Vodka) that he is today. Even with his achievement, Kartoffel remained a very humble and passive deity, not wishing for worship or praise.
