Here is my contest entry! I hope you like it!Story
"The Widow" was an urban legend which was passed around on oil rigs in the long winter months in the north. Many have claimed to have seen her but that goes against her legend. Anyone who sees her disappears. The story behind her states that she was the wife of a rigger living in an area by massive oil reserves. Her husband who fell in love with a female rigger. His wife got wind of this and was outraged so she stormed out of her house straight into the harsh, -50°C world in search of her husband. She went on and was eventually presumed dead due to exposure. The husband was joyed by this so that he could no linger feel guilty about his affair. The following winter on the rig he saw something in the distance. It was a figure trudging through the snow. Upon closer inspection he saw it was his "dead" wife. Her skin was a sickly blue-green and looked like ice. They made eye contact. Then she started sprinting towards him effortlessly through the snow. She caught up to him and brought him to the ground where she then ripped out his heart with her bare hands. She kept it so that his heart would only belong to her. The rest of his workers found him that night with his chest ripped open and bloody footsteps in the snow. She still searches to this day for his lover and has turned to killing anyone on sight.
