Here is my contest entry! I know she's not the most creative skin, but I'm hoping the story will back it up! C:(( in all honesty I think the story is bad ))

Once, there was a girl born into a poor farming family who lived somewhere off in the mid-west. They raised her well, and cherished her, as she was their one and only child. They named her Augustina, hoping that such a beautiful name would be equal to how beautiful she was to them. They wanted her to grow up and help them out on the farms until she grew old enough to go and start a life of her own, but that was not how fate had planned it. That was not even close. The fates had something totally different planned, and a farmer was something she would never become.
As time went on, Augustina slowly grew into a beautiful young girl. Brown-haired and blue eyed, she took her looks much after her mother. She loved to take walks around their farm and admire wonderful the world. Although, one strange day, things got a bit out of hand.
It was that one day when she was 17 that her life changed forever.
Augustina spotted something strange that had never appeared to be there before. Something tall. Something reaching up so high that it seemed to go right through the clouds--and she couldn't even tell what it was! Overcome by curiousity, closer and closer she went to the unknown object until she was less than a foot or two away from it. It seemed to be some sort of ladder, leading up into the heavens. Being the brave girl she was, Augustina climbed it. Up and up she went, until all she could see was endless sky; but then it hit her. Literally. There were things up there..things that threatened human life. The true reasons planes crash landed wasn't because of malfunctions or poor piloting--it was because of the monsters that hide up above. And that hit she took? It was like no hit she ever felt before. She was determined. Nobody would be hurt because of these odd creatures, and she would be the one to protect them. She felt the power surge through her as her hair color faded to the white of the clouds, her white dress to the blue of the sky. Slowly, she stepped off the ladder like object, and it shattered behind her, the bits and pieces fading away. She could never go back.
Her eyes widened as she thought she would fall, but that didn't happen. She stood on the clouds that could now fully support her weight. She walked on, and all the creatures that lurked in the sky ceased to be naughty near her. For some odd reason she did not fully understand, they feared her. They never wanted to get on her bad side--and she prefered it that way, too. No longer was she Augustina, the average girl--she was now Augustina, the guardian of what lies above.
It is because of her that planes can now travel safely through the skies without being under the attack of the creatures unkown to human kind, and they can fly in peace.
