Graves were scattered accross the soil of the graveyard, tombstones rising out of the ground like the stonehenge, some in rows or columns, others struggling to fill the gaps between two other graves. Scripture was carved in to the stone that had long been forgotten, names and dates that held no importance to anyone who visited; because all the widows and mourning children had long had the time and place of their loved ones death melted in to their memory. Wilted flowers hung lazily above graves, a sign that every so often someone brought up the deeply buried memory of the dead and returned to this site to pay their respects.
Overall, the cemetary was a very solemn place. The above ground atmosphere quiet and cold, while below ground the dead had never been more alive.

Every few nights the silence of the graveyard was broken by a few quiet knocks on the bottom of a coffin, a test to see if this one had been emptied or was still occupied. It would seem that without a brain, skeletons have terrible memory.
If the coffin responded with a rattle, the ground underneath it would soon be dug out, the coffin lowered down by a series of groups of bones, and the skeleton inside quickly recovered. The bone bandit's had quickly discovered that they should then lift the funerary box back up to where it once sat peacefully, because a family is unlikely to notice a missing skeleton, as the caskets are hardly ever opened if they are recovered, but they would almost always raise suspicion at a missing coffin.
The bones would each be sorted in to minecarts, a system set up and abandoned long ago by humans. They are sent along the tracks to Boneyard, the founder and leader of the working order of skeletons, who also happened to be the only would who possessed 'the gift.' The worker skeletons had no idea what Boneyard did in his cavern that resulted in the skeleton parts coming out fully animated and as active as when they were human children, and they also have no idea how they were created, though they assume in a familiar way; all they know is that they work, like moths to a flame, ready for the day they will ascend to the surface and take back the world that was once theirs.
