DuscVocates are new members of the Dusc Voc cult. They where simple gray sashes and brass-trimmed robes. To become a Vocate, one must have acquired acceptable knowledge of magic, some training in the art of stealth, and at least six months of experience with a sword. Vocation ceremonies are held on the first Dusc (Dusk with a crescent moon) of every month. During Vocation, a person joining the cult will swear an oath of loyalty to the cult, become branded with the cult's crest on the palm of each hand and on the chest, and receive their Vocate's sash and amulet. 

Vocates are required to attend at least one cult meeting (held on every Dusc) per month. They are given a mentor (DuscVoclier in rank) to be trained under, and usually go to live with their mentor. They perform the lowliest tasks the cult offers (get a book from a library, bring a pig to be sacrificed, serve food/drink to other cultists during ceremonies, etc.). 

After two years of training, Vocates progress to the rank of DuscVocice. 

"On my honor, I swear to be loyal to the Dusc Voc. I swear to be obdient to what my superiors within the Dusc Voc. I swear to follow the laws of the Dusc Voc above all else. My service to the Dusc Voc will be erased should I fail in any of these things."
