The strips revolve around turtles , which change from green glue mutations of ordinary turtles into intelligent beings ( where this came from mucus may vary by story) . Splinter , a rat , was also mutated by the mucus and became the master of the Turtles .

In most versions of the TMNT Master Splinter was a normal house rat . His boss ( master Hamato Yoshi ) was a ninja . Splinter imitated the movements of his boss and so did the art of ninjitsu . When did kill one day Shredder Yoshi Splinter shot his master help. He thus still a scar on the cheek . Splinter went to live on the street where he met the Turtles and taught ninjitsu .

There are several variations on this early story. In one variant, the domestic rat Splinter Yoshi , the others are Splinter Yoshi and the same person .

From their hiding in the sewers of Manhattan , the Turtles fight all kinds of enemies . These enemies range from ordinary villains to their arch- nemesis, The Shredder and his army of ninjas . From time to time the TMNT fighting even against alien or supernatural enemies . Always keep themselves hidden from the large crowd because the people would not accept them. Arranged to help them the only people who are well aware of the existence of the Turtles and April O'Neil and Casey Jones .
