So, anybody else watch the insanity of the Twitch Plays Pokémon saga? (BTW, that link opens in a new window, just so you know!)
In case you don't know what I'm rambling about, someone set up a stream on Twitch.tv running a Game Boy emulator with a modified Pokémon ROM, and the emulator controls are hooked to the Twitch chat system. The chat room enters the commands.
Maybe 200 people playing could've been an interesting experiment, but 70k viewers with probably over 10-20k players inserting commands through the chat system with everyone's votes being the same value?
It's absolute chaos - and yet they manage to move forward.
There is something absolutely ridiculous and laughable in such an experiment even as a concept, yet it has brought so many emergent things explaining a lot about human interaction on the Internet, how memes are born, how people meta-game and also strategize the input itself, how factions and protests formed around anarchy and democracy. The stream highlights have also brought back memories and emotions long forgotten, and even made simple fights and tasks almost like a world championship match in - well, whatever you're the most passionate about.
I simply had to create a skin to commemorate this event.
R.I.P. Jay Leno and Abby. (The False Prophet Flareon can rot for all I care.)
