Thrór was a King of Durin's Folk, the son of Dain I and the father of Thrain II, He and his people were driven from their home of Erebor by the Dragon Smaug, after hoarding a mass of treasures dug from beneath the mountain.
Thrór leads the Dwarves forces at the Battle of Azanulbizar, where the displaced dwarves of Erebor attempted to reclaim Moria and met an army of Orcs led by Azog. However, Thrór is killed and beheaded in hand-to-hand combat with Azog.
