The last jack-o-lantern was crafted and placed. It was done. I had promised my sister Elise to make our house the scariest one in the overworld. Now, at last, I was going to put on my favorite green t-shirt and jeans, and watch my favorite horror movies.
I was too old for trick-or-treating, so that’s what I decided to do. Dad was handing candy to visitors at our door, and Mom took my sisters Brittney and Elise trick-or-treating.
I turned on the tv, it came to a news reporter. “The floods have come the floods have come!” He exclaimed. Oh no, I was in the basement of our house.
I glanced at the stairs, water was rushing down them like a waterfall. I was going to have to swim for it. I held my breath and started to swim the overflowing stairway and into the living room. From there I swam to the stairway to the second floor. By about the sixth step I was on solid ground.
Soaking wet, I climbed the stairs and ran into my parents’ room. From there I got onto the deck and climbed the outside ladder to the roof. The flooding was getting worse, the deck now was dripping with water. I noticed my dad on a raft in the middle of the street as well as a few little kids and their mother.
Whooooooooooooooooooooooooooooosh!
I was swept of my feet. A few seconds later, I was eight houses down. I could feel someone tugging on my wrist, and pulling me upward. I was now on the roof of someone else’s house. A girl was standing next to me, completely dry, her long amber-brown hair waving in the wind. She had green eyes, a gray and purple sweater, sleek white leggings, and tight black boots.
“Who’re you?” I asked her.
“My name is Amber Flame, princess of the Nether.” She replied. “I need you to come with me, to lead you to safety.”
“What about my family?” I asked her.
“They will be alright.” Amber replied. “Let’s get going.” She started building a Nether portal. I had heard about these, in A Blaze’s Birthday, my favorite book. I never knew they were real.
Amber grabbed on my hand. Next thing I know we’re in The Nether.
This was going to be an interesting Halloween.
