So I log on today to see #PrayForFrance/Paris everywhere on pmc. Let me tell you how this gets me mad. Now before I start to rant about things, please note that I do understand what happened in Paris was bad, but trust me, there are worse going on.
So the day before the thing happened in Paris(Which I was never told of what happened, I just know isis did something and people are dead and the social media is sad) Beruit was bombed which killed 44 people the day before Paris was attacked. I understand that 44 isn't as large as a number as the people who died in France, but people still died there. And most news sites did not cover this.
I actually did not know about this until I looked up what happened to France, and found out about that. Most people might not even know about that until they read this!
The same day Paris was attacked, Japan had a tsunami, and Mexico had an earthquake. Nobody died, but no news sites covered this. There was a funeral bombing in Baghdad that killed people. The news did not cover this.
What makes me wonder why people are only concerned about Paris and not Beruit or Baghdad is because that France is can be considered a first world country. I'm sure there are tons of people who don't even where Baghdad or Beruit(Beruit is a city in Lebanon, I'm sure nobody knows where Lebanon is either)
So before you change your cheesy facebook profile picture to have a flag on it, just know that there are countries that have it worse. Last year 100 children died in Kenya, but I did not see one person change their picture to that. So the next time someone says "So you're not changing your picture?" "You're not making a France skin?" I'll send them here and they can just take a moment to realize, if they care enough to change a profile picture, they should look up other (Bad) things that happen daily in countries that have it much, much worse than a tourist spot. Thats all.
