Hal Jordan, a test pilot for Ferris Air, was suddenly flown across the country, where he landed at the wreck of a ship belonging to Abin Sur, a dying alien. Right before he died, Sur gave Jordan his green ring of power, and the lantern power battery. Upon learning how to use these, he dedicated his life to stopping evil, as The Green Lantern of earth!
