Oryx is an ancient Hive God born directly from the darkness. He commands the Hive from his massive dreadnaught. He even has his own Hive sect, the Blood of Oryx. He stayed away from the Traveler for a while until a group of guardians killed his son, Crota. Crota's death sparked Oryx's lust for revenge. Oryx attacked a Cabal base on Phobos (Sky Burners) which caused them to send out a distress signal. The Cabal found Oryx to powerful. Oryx started to rip current combatants from our dimension and send them back with new abilities. These corrupted Taken are controlled by Oryx and have had their will erased. Oryx is now coming for Guardians everywhere to avenge his son's death.
