As she stood in the tiny sound booth of a petite primary school in cozy Tottenham, England, Adele Laurie Blue Adkins knew she would sing until the very days of her departure. While sound poured out of her very being, young Adele of the age of nine years old smiled a sweet grin, soaking up every second of song she could.
With a sigh of pleasure, she practically danced out of the studio, happiness framing all of her features, as she slipped her hand into Mira’s. Even though he was just as young as she was, he too possessed a gift that he was rather good at. Art. Everyday he would sketch her, with his blonde and yellow colored pencils for her hair, and his bluest blues for her eyes.
That night on Mira’s red bike on the way home, Adele and Mira huddled close together on the bike to shelter out the cold. In that very moment of hugs, warmth, and a calming bike ride home, they truly thought they would be together forever. Or so they thought...
Seven Years Later
Mira was late again. She may have been trying to start the most important musical phase of her life, but he had been mostly absent when she was making. In fact, he was kind of absent in everything. He wouldn’t speak to her as much, and he would shrug away her kisses and hugs constantly. Recently, his color pencil colors had changed as well. Instead of the blondes and blues she had known so well, they were replaced with auburns, reds, and hazels. When questioned by Adele, he would just shrug and murmur something about change of preference.
Today he was especially late, and when he saw her in the bigger music studio of their fine arts high school, he pulled her out and explained, “Hey Del, today is just different can we not today?”
She nodded stiffly and followed him to his motorcycle, but he stopped her before they entered the parking lot.
“Look something is going on that I think I should tell you about..” He looked awkward in a stance that said he was ashamed.
“What is it?” Adele asked as she stepped into the parking lot.
What Mira tried to block, but failed to was forever etched in Adele’s mind. Sitting on the rear leather seat of Mira’s motorcycle was a gorgeous model-like figure of a girl. With curly luscious locks of auburn hair, and hazel eyes of sparkling glimmer, she was a sight to be seen.
Or rather, put in other words, a change of preference.
Three Years Later
It was a party in the Brit School dorms in Croydon, England, which meant it was going to be absolutely riveting, and which also meant Adele had to go.
Dressed to impress in a stylistic yet comfortable purplish-red tinted dress, and her worn moccasins that she wore wherever she went, she stepped out of her college dorm and into the dorms of her rebound boyfriend, Ty.
Once they were at the party Ty and Adele immediately started dancing, they were in love after all! Adele was having a lot of fun with Ty, but she had a sinking feeling in her stomach. Was someone... watching her?
Putting her arm on Ty's shoulder, she slowly turned her head around, and gasped. Before her was a handsome statuesque man of great height who had two colored pencils behind his ears, one blonde and and one blue. He was staring fondly at Adele, but his brown eyes glimmered with something she'd thought she'd never see, regret.
However she turned her head back around, because even the memories of when they were young couldn't help but remind her even more that she too, like him had had a change of preference.
