Matilda was furiously typing away at her computer, like any other day. The sun was shining brightly outside, but her curtains were covering that sunshine. It was her daily routine, waking up, cleaning herself, eating breakfast and then going on her computer for the remaining hours of the day. She performed this so often, that she tended to hiss at the sun when it was out. Her friends and family were concerned about her, for this was her routine for seven years. Finally, when Matilda had the courage to step outside for the first time in many years, her family and friends were shocked at the sight of Matilda. No, she wasn't dirty or smelly. She had put on fresh new clothes to impress them. However the many years she spent surrounded by darkness, she had grown a shadow. Not the type of shadow that appears when you step in front of a light. Oh no, no. This "shadow" had grown from the ground to her face. It was covering her eyes, but she didn't notice when she was inside. The only source of light she had was the bright white screen appearing from her computer. Since she spent seven long years without the source of the sun, the shadow crept down her face, consuming half her body. Her friends and family just stood there in shock with their mouths wide open, nobody daring to say a word. Finally, someone had the courage to give Matilda a mirror. She stared at herself. There was no emotion, all that could be heard was the mirror cracking.
