The Fury. The Seven Blades. Wrath of the Betrayed. These are all names associated with Saril, god of Anger and Vengeance. Saril is the patron deity of all those who raise a blade in hatred, and he has been known to grant favors to those who pray to him for vengeance. Saril is also one of the few deities to have destroyed a fellow god. Karoth, god of Fire and Rage, had long warred with Saril, after Karoth accidentally struck Saril from behind in a battle. Saril claimed Karoth had intended to slay him, while Karoth refused to admit he had erred in combat. The two had ever since waged constant battle with each other. In one particularly heated fight, Saril sundered Karotho s blade, and Karoth cried out and fled. He sought out Teroas, god of Craftsmen and Blacksmiths, and begged him to create a new, stronger sword to replace the one Saril destroyed. Teroas agreed, but demanded a spark of Karotho s divine fire in return. Karoth agreed, and soon Teroas had created a powerful sword capable of withstanding Sarilo s mighty blows. However, the blade was uncooled, and Teroas warned Karoth to wait for the metal to set properly. Karoth waited for an entire day, but he soon began to fear that Saril would find him, and so he took up the sword before it was fully cooled, despite Teroaso s warning. When Karoth emerged from Teroaso s smithy, he found that Saril was waiting for him. Saril explained that he had been waiting for Karotho s new sword to be finished, so that the two could fight on even ground. Furious at being condescended to so, Karoth struck at Saril, but the blade was still brittle, and Sarilo s first stroke cleaved it in half. The tip soared through the air, severing Sarilo s right ear. Saril then struck down Karoth.
