Description from original post (created 2015-07-02 04:31):
Hi, I'm OtacA. I've recently undertaken a project for the Minecraft Server I operate for my friends. After going just a small portion into the first portion of the project, I realized I'm AWFUL at skinning xD So here I am, asking you wonderful people for help!
The Project:
First things first, I should tell you what I'm doing:
My Server, currently, is completely Vanilla, but coming up, I'm installing CustomNPC's by Noppes to the server. With access to this mod, and probably more in the future, I'm turning the server into an RPG Sandbox, keeping all the basic fundamentals of Minecraft in tact, while adding towns and cities to the world with NPC's created from Noppes' Mod. I am releasing these in what I'm calling Server Expansions with the intent that each expansion further develops each town already in existence, adding more, as well as creating new items, potions, weapons, and armors (All thanks to the Custom NPC's mod and NBT Data ).
The Method:
Currently, I have a single player world created using the same seed as the server. What I've done so far is go around the server, see where everyone is and find a place that is a reasonable distance away from everyone that I don't think anyone will build on while I'm working. Then I go to that place on my single player world and build the new stuff I need to. Then I work on all the NPC's I'll be including, all the new items and such, as well as crafting recipes. As I go through making those, I take notes on what needs to be textured, or renamed (some of the Custom NPC's items, such as "Cell Phone", simply doesn't work in a Fantasy world where Swords and Bows are the weapons of war, so I use a resource pack to rename and retexture the item completely as something more relevant), and then I work on that list. After everything is completely set up and ready to go, I shut down the server, download the world files, go into MCEdit and copy anything built into the server world. Then I go in and place all the NPC's where they should be. After that is done, I re-upload the save file to the server, as well as all Custom NPC's files (Crafting Recipe's, NPC Data, things like that). When I restart the server, I upload the Resource Pack I created and make sure everyone knows that it's required to make sure you see everything the way it's supposed to be seen. Then I start the whole process over again for the Next Expansion.
The Request:
As I said before: I am awful at skinning, and not too much better at normal Item and Block textures. I would like to ask all of you to make as many Minecraft Skins following the theme of Fantasy RPG (Like, Lord of the Rings, Elder Scrolls, things along that nature of Fantasy) as you can/would like to. I don't just need hero's, I need Children, Blacksmiths, Witches (Potion-Makers), Wizards, Sorcerers, Commoners, Cooks, Bards, Assassins, Thieves, Kings, Undead, you name it. Basically, if you can think of something you'd see in an RPG, or an enemy that you'd like to go toe-to-toe with, I can use it. They can be on any model too, not just the player model. The only thing about that is the fact that right now, the only major race being included is humans, meaning the only town so far is a human one. Right now there are only 4 planned Major Races: Humans, Elves, Dwarves and Titans. They all use the Player Model, just with adjusted part-scaling (Dwarves are shorter and stockier, Elves are taller and thinner, like that). I'm planning on sticking mostly to Wood-Elves for the most part, though I may include some High Elves and Dark Elves. The Titans are basically larger Player Model NPC's, and my plans are for them to be an incredibly tough and intelligent race. For skinning them, my thoughts at this point is similar to the Baraka from the MMO Tera, where they're Humanoid, but their body appears to be made of some form of stone or metal. All races are going to be capable of every class (They're all intelligent enough to have powerful wizards, they all can be mighty enough to have mighty warriors, and they all can have everything in-between), so feel free to make that Titan Mage, or Elven Brute. So that everyone knows what I'm in need of, at the bottom I will post two lists, General and Unique. General will just be various skins that I'd be happy to get lots of so that while I'm building towns, I can pick the skin that matches the NPC I want to make perfectly, so if you want to, that list is always welcome for new skins. Unique on the other hand is where I will describe an NPC and will be looking for the best, most fitting skin for that NPC. Once I choose the skin, I'm going to use, I will cross it off the list and write who the chosen skinner was for that specific NPC, as well as an image of the skinned NPC for all to see. Any skins used in the server will have their username put in the "Thank You!" section at the bottom of this post, followed by the number of their skins that have been used in the server. If this server ever does go public (And I am hoping that eventually, I will be able to make it so) I'll be sure to credit everyone for their work, and hopefully be able to repay you all in some way!
All general skins can be men or women, Children, Teens, Young Adults, Adults or Elderly, unless it says otherwise.
Edit: One thing I've discovered that I hadn't mentioned is that I didn't really give any clue on how I wanted things to look. What I'm really kind of looking for is more realistic types of skins. What I mean by this is we all know how much the best armor in an RPG usually shows the most skin on a female. That's the kind of stuff I want to stay away from with these skins: I want men and women alike to have armor that looks like it protects the whole body, with only maybe the helmet off. The other NPC (The non-combat based ones) I'd also like to follow this rule, where yeah, you can see their arms and head, but not every peasant in the world has to look like a supermodel or a power lifter. I hope this kinda explains my goals a little bit.
Currently Implemented Races:
Human's
Re-animated Dead (Skeletons, Zombies, etc. NOT things like Vampires or Lich's)
Vanilla Hostile Mobs (I intend to include higher-tier Versions of minecraft's Mobs, this excludes the Creeper)
General:
Adventurers
Bakers
Bards
Brewers (of Alcoholic Beverages)
Commoners/Peasants
Cooks
Criminals (Thieves, Bandits, Murderers, that sort of thing)
Farmers
Lumber-Jacks
Merchants
Miners
Potion-Makers: Young Adults or Older
Royal Guards
Savage Races (Re-animated Dead, can be different models)
Town Guards
Any other type of Human Class that you could find in an RPG, though the basics will be more useful than the knights and such.
Unique:
Lambrecht, Priest of the Seed: Lambrecht is an elderly Priest who studies and worships the Minecraft deity "The Seed". The religious symbol for "The Seed" is a grass block (side view for imagery, or statue of the whole thing. A normal medieval priest or monk of the time is all i'm REALLY looking for, but in place of a cross or other religious symbol, it would be something that resembles the side view of a Grass Block.
Gallus, King of Leurbost: The King of the city, doesn't need to be too fancy, as it is a small city. He is an Old King.
Bernelle, King's Advisor: A Noblewoman who always thinks she knows what's best for the city. She works directly with the King, and should look the part.
Vala, the Witch: An elderly woman who works with potions. She's been working on them all her life, and other than the gray hair, people swear she's hiding a secret recipe for a Potion of Youth.
Darius the Mighty, Town Guard Commander: A man with unrivaled might, he is one of the leading members of the Town Guard. To put it lightly, an arm-wrestling match with this man usually ends in a broken table.
Claudd the Unbeatable, Town Guard Commander: A master strategist who excels at reading his opponents and hitting them where it hurts. The worst part for everyone else? He's also pretty tough. There's a reason this guy's called the Unbeatable.
Ivona the Wise, Town Guard Commander: An Master Wizard who spent a lot of time out in the world studying the very limits of her power. She is well acquainted with herself, not necessarily so with other people.
Lacina, Town Guard Commander: A Town Guard that looks much less flashy than the other Town Guard Commanders, not much is known about Lacina, but most importantly, the only one who knows the truth about her skills as a fighter is Claudd, and he won't say a word.
Thank you in advance, everyone who helps! If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or to PM me.
