Her family was frightened to be within three feet of her. All the citizens of the village would run into their houses and lock their doors behind them when she passed. She conjured nightmares for them, reminded them of their worst dreams and fears- and the rumor was, if you spoke to her, she might make them come true. She was tall, proud, and beautiful, had glaring eyes the color of cresting sea foam, blinding white hair that was always fashioned into a curious series of crown-like twists and chignons at the back of her head. When she spoke, her voice was low and deep, but when she was angry it was enough to shake the ground.
Her name was Belladonna Nightshade, the Right Wing of Memory, the Keeper of Dreams.
She had not always been such a terror, of course. She had been born like any other child in a cozy cottage at the river's mouth, raised alongside her twin brother Arnon and the rest of the village children. Her parents had put her down for a nap once perfectly normal day... but when they returned, they found blood spattered across the walls and floor, and both Belladonna and Arnon lay near death, knives surrounding them. It seemed that Belladonna had had a nightmare in which a serial killer had broken into their house and tried to murder them- succeeding with Arnon, but she had seemingly fought him in her sleep with the knives. A day later the little boy died from the injuries, and their parents realized that there was something dreadfully wrong with their daughter.
Belladonna was abandoned on the street and raised herself from there, yet the nightmares increased and she was never able to control them. At last she sought council from an old woman that lived at the edge of the forest, who had been exiled for "mysterious behavior", who then deemed her as a very special person with very special powers- that must be used in care. If she entered into a particular stage of dream (for, as you know, dreams come in different severities and realities), she could make things happen- control elements, defeat any person in the dream (depending on whether or not they were a real person).
Then, one day, the King of the country died and a weak, lanky stranger rose to take the throne. In a dream, Belladonna envisioned him crashing the world straight into the ground... and the vision rose in intensity, becoming as real and tangible as the tree she slumbered beside. Belladonna felt her fists grow hot with blazing fire as the nightmare took full shape in her head.
This would not go on. She was the Keeper of Dreams and the Right Wing of Memory, and she would stop this madness with her own two hands...
After killing her brother in a fit of nightmares, Belladonna Nightshade is abandoned, and learns from a peculiar old woman that she has special powers that enable her to enter into dreams of a certain severity and control people, elements, and entities. When the King of the country dies and a weakling steps onto the throne, Belladonna decides to use her power in a way she has never even dreamed to attempt... one that could mean death and destruction for the entire world...
