There once was a land that was called Nameless, for no one that had settled there had bothered themselves about granting the frozen realm a name. It was bitterly cold year round, encompassed by steep, ice-capped mountain ranges and glaciers, and inhabited mostly by wolves, bears, and strange creatures of snow.

One valiant adventurer from the lower green lands had moved his family to the Nameless, building a rather rude cottage of earth and wood. There he lived off the land, fishing from icy lakes and hunting wild game, yet soon he began to realize it had been foolish to come there after all. One especially frigid night, whilst walking home in the midst of a blizzard, the adventurer glimpsed many shaggy shadows loping across the hill a few yards away, led by a tall figure clad in scarlet with hair as blinding as the moonlight. Yet they vanished...

When the man returned home, he found his wife writhing with the pangs of childbirth, and over her cries he could hear the howls of ever-nearing wolves. She gave birth to a daughter... and clasping his hand, she uttered three cryptic words and then died. "The Wolf Whisperer."

Driven with grief, the adventurer took the child and left his dead wife, going out into the night. Suddenly he found himself facing a mass of gleaming crimson eyes and long, lithe, furry figures. The wolves- they had returned! Standing before them was the mysterious, wraithlike girl: she wore a long cape of ebony and a gown the color of blood, and her eyes glinted red as she flashed them on the trespasser. She spoke but her words were strange and haunting; she threw her head back and howled with the wolves. The world vanished, and neither the adventurer nor his newborn daughter were ever seen again.



To this day, tales are still spun about the ghostly Wolf Whisperer and her malevolent pack in the towns and villages beneath the mountains. No one ever really knew if the legend of the Valiant Adventurer and his encounters were fact or fiction, but many rumors have flown round that a sinister prescence does preside over the glacial valley lying three miles northward.

Will anyone have the courage to face those deathly scarlet eyes? What secret lies buried in the ruins of a small earthen cottage... and what ancient powers roam the hills above the storms of snow?
