I stood there, shaking, trying to brush of the weariness and acking. The odd, blue crystallized nuclear ice gradually continues its spreading around my body. Snow swirled in my face, apparently feeding the ice. Even though it was cold and wet, my mouth fell dry. I couldn't risk eating snow, the radiation could kill me.
But I'm affected, right? There's nothing else I can do to help, why not try to stay longer, at least? Suddenly, explosions rocketed in the distance, mushroom clouds filling the air. I coughed, leaving a faint tint of blue in the air. What I'm wondering is, how have I stayed alive so long?
In the clearing, a shape moved towards me. Well, diagonal of me. The figure evolved into, a human! Bundled up in a parka, he stumbled along, muttering. A gas mask covered his face, and he was armed with a gun. He could help me!
I tried to speak, but my voice didn't work. I tried to move, but I was stuck solid to the ground. Unable to see me in the snow, the man walked past me without a second glance.
Tears streamed down my face, only to rapidly freeze. Stupid WW3, turning towards nuclear. Seeing my family die, my home demolished, the world beyond repair. But then, I noticed.
The radiation was keeping me alive. If I was without the radiation, I would have frozen, dead. Even though I'm freezing, sufferjng, it's keeping me alive. Come to think of it, it had been at least a whole YEAR without food, which is impossible, right? Wait a sec. Have I found the key to immortality? I've been alive in the freezing wasteland for 5 years now!
At the thought, I howled into the night with glee.
